Sinopsi:
Grga Pitic, un padrí gitano i magnat d'abocadors d'escombraries, i Zarije, l'orgullós propietari d'unes obres de ciment, són amics de la infància i d'aventures de joventut. Ara té vuitanta anys, han sobreviscut junts a tot tipus d'aventures i es tenen un profund respecte l'un per l'altre. Estant Zarije a l'hospital, el seu fill Matka va a Grga per demanar-li diners. Amb ell, i associant-se a donar, un gàngster de vida esbojarrada, pretén fer un gran negoci amb la venda en el mercat negre de petroli. Però les coses surten malament, i Donada l'amenaça de mort, malgrat que la jove filla de Matka es gairebé l'única germana soltera que li queda a Dada. Però el noi està enamorat d'una altra noia...
